Behavioral therapy means working with a counselor to learn why you choose to smoke and what things you can do to try and quit smoking. Therapy is about learning different mechanisms to deal with the cravings when they hit so that you can avoid giving in to them. This is especially helpful if you are an emotional or social smoker whose smoking is based off of the situations that you are in and not necessarily because of an overwhelming craving.

3. Medication

There are now medications designed to help you beat the cravings and quit smoking. However, these can only be prescribed by a doctor and therefore you need to work with your family doctor if you want to take this route to quitting smoking.
